Margarita is the Lorenzo Langstroth Early Career Associate Professor of Entomology and extension specialist of pollinator health at Penn State University. She received her BS in Biology from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), her MSc in Genetics and Evolution from Universidade Federal de São Carlos (Brazil), and her Ph.D. in Entomology from Cornell University (USA). Her research and extension programs aim to better understand the unintended consequences of agricultural practices on the health and evolutionary trajectories of bees to help develop sustainable practices through improved management and breeding programs of crops and pollinators.
