Stephania is a Fulbright-Minciencias doctoral fellow from Colombia. She received her B.Sc. in Biology from Universidad del Valle (Colombia) in 2014 and her M.Sc. in Entomology from the Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil) in 2018, where she studied the impact of the Andean uplift on the microevolutionary patterns of orchid bees with cross-Andean distributions. Stephania is broadly interested in insect evolution and conservation, and how the interaction of life-history traits and environmental variables shapes evolutionary histories. At Penn State, she is studying color polymorphism and species delimitation in Eulaema orchid bees, and the microevolutionary patterns, species delimitation, and behavioral ecology of Triepeolus cuckoo bees.
