Francisco Alfredo Reyes Rocha is a sociologist of food systems with expertise in international agriculture and rural development. Originally from Nicaragua, he earned his B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences and Development from Zamorano University in Honduras and an Erasmus Mundus International Master in Rural Development from Ghent University in Belgium. He holds a Ph.D. in Rural Sociology from Penn State University, where he studied how institutional dynamics shape opportunities and support systems for underserved farming populations.

As a postdoctoral researcher in the López-Uribe Lab, Alfredo investigates the social dimensions of beekeeping, focusing on Spanish-speaking communities across the U.S. Northeast. His work examines how social, cultural, and institutional factors influence participation in beekeeping and the creation of inclusive networks that strengthen livelihoods and sustainability.
